Laurelstar stood upon the highrock and summoned his clan with the usual cry of 'let all cats old enough to catch their own prey join under the highrock for a clan meeting!"
cats came sliding from all corners of the clearing, until finally, the whole clan was there.
Three large kits, whom obviously were having a late ceremony due to the fact of lack of mentors, sat below Laurelstar. Their mother, Hush-heart, sat at the front of the crowd, looking rather proud.
"Now then, we all know that these three should have been made into apprentices last moon, but there simply weren't enough mentors. Now, though, we've finally got enough cats who will willingly take on each as an apprentice.
First off, Silentstep, you will be mentor to Spiritpaw. May you train him well using all the same skill you were taught as an apprentice.
Vervaintail, you have been struggling with my daughter as an apprentice, so I've arranged for you to switch to training Dovepaw. May you pass on all the skill I myself taught you and that you have displayed in the time of a crisis.
I myself will be mentor to Frostpaw. I solemnly swear to teach him everything I know about being a warrior between now and the day he himself takes on a warrior name."
Laurelstar waited for the cheering to die down, but when it did not, he silenced his Clan by raising his paw.
"Now then, we have the matter of giving Ripplepaw a new mentor. For her I have chosen the most senior warrior fit to take on an apprentice, for I can tell that she's quite a pawful. Palepelt, will you finish her training over the next few moons?"
Palepelt nodded. "And don't expect me to go easy on her because she's your daughter!"
Laurelstar chuckled, and nodded. "I wouldn't have it any other way.
Ripplepaw had a blank look on her face.
The three newly named apprentices, on the other hand, were bursting with joy.
