Well, I was researching all sorts of random biology-related stuff. (For a school project. My assignment was to write what ended up being ninety-eight questions about biology for a science trivia game that I and my friends Eevee, Beaky, and Emily developed.) I was going through a huge database of medical news articles, hoping to find factoids that I could turn into trivia cards, and found an article about possible causes of autism. Intrigued, I read it. The following is an actual quote copied directly from the article:
"...some type of prenatal or perinatal insult might increase the likelihood of autism."
I read that twice to make sure I hadn't misread it (and sometimes I do; I once looked at a scene in a book where a character apologizes to an upperclassman, and thought he was saying, "I'm sorry, Underpants"), and then read it over and over trying to understand what it said. Conclusion: Apparently, the chances of a baby being autistic might be increased by them being called names before or immediately after they are born. I'm sure it makes sense to somebody.

Actually, I think I read a thing saying that autistic kids weren't talked to enough as a baby. I don't beleve that one either.
