Goldenheart padded through the forest, listening to the birds in the trees and the four excited kits following her. Arriving at Sunningrocks, she turned to face her kits. There were soft-spoken Quietkit, pain-hardened Ravenkit, crafty Goldenkit, and fearless Creamkit. Four good kits who would someday strengthen ThunderClan. "We've made it to Sunningrocks," she mewed softly, "and you can play here for a while as long as you don't go past the scent markers. RiverClan is on the other side. Clear?" "Yes, ma'am," squeaked the kits. Goldenheart stared into the water as the kits organized themselves for a game. "All right, Creamkit, you be leader this time. I'll be deputy, so Quietkit and Ravenkit can be the warriors. That work?" "Yes!" came the answering mew. "We'll use this for the Highrock!" Creamkit climbed up onto it. "Eek!" she squealed as she slipped on the mossy stone and fell backwards into the river. Goldenheart saw her kit fall. "Stay right there!" she cautioned the other kits, as she dove into the river. She had to struggle to get ahold of the scruff of Creamkit's neck- she didn't remember the current being so strong! Funnily enough, she didn't remember it flowing in this direction, either! They went under for a single second. When they emerged, Goldenheart caught sight of an island and swam for it. The two of them washed up on its shore, where they were immediately confronted by a tom with fur nearly as red as blood. "Who are you? What are you doing in the RiverClan camp? Your stench is almost like LightningClan!" he complained. "LightningClan? I'm not a member of that, since I've never heard of it before. My name is Goldenheart, and this is Creamkit. She fell in the river and I had to rescue her." "I am Redstorm, deputy of RiverClan. I'll need to take you to see Brightstar."
So began the story of Creamkit of RiverClan. Creamkit fell in love with her new Clan, adopted it, and forgot all about what had happened when she was younger. It was almost as if Goldenheart took all of Creamkit's memories with her when she left to return to her old home. These cats live in the highly structured environment of the four Clans of wild cats.
The first of the Clans is ThunderClan, which just recently was born from the ashes of LightningClan. They live on the most forested land, with a camp in a ravine. The important landmarks in their territory are the Camp, the central hub where they sleep and hold the supplies they have; Snakerocks, a pile of stones which harbor poisonous adders; the Great Sycamore, a tree that has already been growing many moons and is already huge; the Sandy Hollow, where mentors teach their apprentices the skills they will need in a fairly stable environment before testing them out in practice; and the Thunderpath, whose hard, flat, stinking surface is favored by the shining Twoleg monsters (all of which are strangely angular, covered on top with a flimsy pelt-like material, and come in "every color so long as it's black" -Quote attributed Henry Ford, describing the monsters he makes).
The second Clan is DarknessClan, who live in a marsh and a pine forest. Their landmarks are the Camp, which serves the same purpose as ThunderClan's; and Carrionplace, a resource that DarknessClan can utilize when they are hungry by finding crowfood and rats there. The only danger is, sickness lurks within the rats' bodies. At some future time, DarknessClan will disappear. The shadow of the former Clan will then take the name ShadowClan, rebuild, and eventually become ThunderClan's bitter enemies.
The third Clan, RiverClan, lives on the territory closest to the river and has the fattest cats. Their landmarks are the camp, which serves the same purpose as all the other Clans' camps; the river, where almost all their fresh-kill comes from; the waterfall, a steep drop that can kill any cat who goes over it; the gorge, a small canyon dug by the river; and Sunningrocks, a small riverside haven with warm stones, good hunting even in leaf-bare, and a huge rivalry with ThunderClan over it. By the time a thousand moons has gone by, Sunningrocks will have changed paws many times. RiverClan isn't going to disappear anytime within the next thousand or so moons.
The fourth Clan, WindClan, lives on the great moor. They don't have much in the way of known landmarks(at least not to me, since I've never been WindClan) except for the inevitable camp, but the way they know the moor suggests that there are some sort of landmarks out there, even if I have no idea what they are. Like RiverClan, they're not likely to go away.
