High above the world where the Clans hunted, StarClan sat and watched. They had not spoken to each other for some time, since they were so fascinated by what was going on below. Finally, one young starry warrior spoke up. "I know that the Clans will survive, as they are meeting this challenge so well- but when our ranks are swelled so much by the dead of LightningClan, will the survivors have the courage to stay with the warrior code?"
A gentle white she-cat with yellow patches, until very recently leader of her Clan, turned to the young cat who had spoken. "You need not worry, Laurelheart. Remember, what happened to you and Larkpaw and Mallowpaw could have been the end of their Clan loyalty if it were to end. Yet, it did no such thing- if anything, they are closer together now than ever, realizing that tomorrow could be the end of any one of their beloved Clanmates. I think that when this is over, the survivors from LightningClan, at least, will be stronger than ever. The same can probably go for WindClan, as well. I am not sure that we can say as much for RiverClan or DarknessClan, though." Brightstar sighed, realizing that alive she had been too blind to see her deputy's betrayal, and that was why she was alive no longer. "RiverClan was divided from the moment Redstorm began to mentor Swiftpaw. The dissension grew from that single apprentice to all her friends, and now the Clan is split between those who are loyal to Redstorm and those who know him to be a murderer." She glanced over at two warriors not too far away, who Redstorm had sharpened his claws on. It was almost as if the injuries he had dealt to one of the apprentices had been preparation for the murders of Fleetfoot and Wildcloud, and those mere practice for the killing of Brightstar nine times over.
